Cecil, the protagonist, is a dark knight and airship captain of the Kingdom of Baron who questions his King's order to massacre a village full of wizards. He eventually abandons the path of dark knight Dom and becomes a righteous paladin. Over the progression of this journey, Cecil finds out Golbez is behind King Baron's behaviour. He wants to collect all the world's crystals and conquer the world. Cecil goes on a mission to defeat him and assembles a group of allies along the way. Cecil and his party fight the evil monsters, wolves made of fire and giant walls.
